'Tips for Jesus' tips $9,000 sum in West Hollywood

"Tips for Jesus" can be traced back to September on Instagram. With simple images, a mere capture of a receipt with "Tips for Jesus" stamped on it, this account is more than what it seems. If you take a closer look, the "Tip" is unbelievable.

Adding up to more than $50,000 in lump-sum, this anonymous gifter is undeniably an "over-tipper."

According to KTLA,  "Various media outlets have reported that the generous donor may be former PayPal executive Jack Shelby, though you do not see the tipper in any of the Instagram images."

From a $5,000 tip at a Notre Dame, Ind., restaurant in October, to a November $10,000 tip in Hollywood, Calif., December was no exception. With a double donation of $1,000 at Bo's Kitchen and Bar Room and $7,000 at The NoMad restaurant, both were found in New York.

"Tips for Jesus" was not just a generous Christmas miracle.

On Saturday, Jan. 4, Leigh D. of West Hollywood's Acabar joined the lucky lottery of service workers who've been blessed by "Tips for Jesus." "It was a $5,000 tip," she said. "I was like, 'Oh my God, yes!'" Brian Kennedy of the Pearl, another bar in West Hollywood, was tipped $4,000 the following night.

Besides buying a few beers and ordering dessert, Leigh D. said that her tippers, two young men, ordered bottles for various guests around the bar, yet, "they asked to remain anonymous," further reports KTLA.

"Doing the Lord's work, one tip at a time."
