Time Warner Cable customers suffered a nationwide Internet outage at 4:30 a.m. ET Tuesday that lasted until around 6 a.m. ET. Time Warner Cable has an estimated 14.5 million subscribers of the country's 115 million homes.
The company said in a statement, "An issue with our Internet backbone created disruption with our Internet and On Demand services," reports CNN Money. Cable TV and phone services were not reportedly affected.
"The outage is another black eye for Time Warner Cable, which has a dismal reputation among consumers," CNN Money further reports. "Earlier this year, the American Consumer Satisfaction Index showed Time Warner Cable had the lowest satisfaction rate of any big television provider." Comcast, the second-lowest satisfaction rate, is currently in the process of acquiring Time Warner Cable.
Some customers were still reporting spotty service at 7 a.m. ET.
