Unlike many harrowing pit bull stories in headlines, Hades, a pit bull, is being praised as a hero in Oregon City, Oregon.
A group of children were playing near a creek on Tuesday night, down a steep embankment behind their apartment complex. One child stepped on a rotten log, which had been full of bees.
Swarmed by bees, the children began to climb back up the hill for help, however, 8-year-old Jesse Cole Shaver was having trouble making the ascent.
"Hades saw me and came and dragged me up to the grass and stopped and let me crawl on her back and took me to my mom," Jesse Cole explains to Fox 12 Oregon. Jesse Cole had been stung an estimated 24 times at least.
Jesse Cole's mother says, "Oh, I thank my puppy. I'm so glad we adopted her," reports Fox 12 Oregon.
Jesse Cole's sister, Jasmine Jones, 14, was stung five times and is allergic to bees. Their mother was able to administer her EpiPen, while a neighbor called 911.
Both Jesse Cole and Jasmine were taken to an area hospital for treatment and have since been released.
