Wayne County Inmate Charged In Cellmate’s Death
WAYNE COUNTY, Tenn. – An inmate has been accused of killing his cellmate at a prison in Wayne County.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said the Wayne County Grand Jury indicted 33-year-old Travis Bess in June for one count of First Degree Murder.
The TBI and Tennessee Department of Correction began investigating the death of 43-year-old Jeffery T. Sills at South Central Correctional Facility in Clifton.
Sills was attacked at the prison on March 28, and died after being transported to a Waynesboro hospital.
During the investigation, authorities developed information that connected Bess to the crime.
On Thursday, Bess was served with the indictment. He remains in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction.
