MT. JULIET, Tenn. – A man has been arrested in Wilson County after he allegedly threatened a woman with a butcher knife.

The reported incident took place just after 6:30 Monday evening at a mobile home complex on Lebanon Road in Mt. Juliet.

Officials with the Mt. Juliet Police Department said 49-year-old Richard Fowler was taken into custody after a woman accused him of threatening and chasing her with a butcher knife. The 56-year-old unidentified woman told police she was also assaulted prior to the alleged incident.

Witnesses said Fowler ran into the woods as officials were arriving on the scene.

Police said his two dogs followed him into the woods and their barking helped officers locate Fowler, who was reportedly hiding under vegetation. He was found unarmed.

He was charged with aggravated assault and held in lieu of $10,000 bond. A court date has been set for August 19.
