NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Investigators are searching for a man who they believe started a fire at an abandoned motel in south Nashville overnight. At least one person was injured.
Authorities want to speak with Jonathan Watt, a white male in his 30s with salt and pepper hair, about the fire that heavily damaged the Harding Inn on Harding Place early Wednesday.
Metropolitan Nashville Police officers were the first to spot the flames just after midnight at the abandoned motel.
Five homeless people were removed from inside, including one person who had been burned on his arms.
The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with second degree burns.
Police said the motel had been padlocked and boarded up since 2010, as it had been a hub for prostitution and drug activity.
The Fire Marshal will investigate what exactly started the fire.
Anyone with information about the fire was asked to call Crime Stoppers at (615)74-CRIME.
