Officials Adding Extra Patrols For Labor Day Weekend
LA VERGNE, Tenn. – Law enforcement officials will be on the lookout for suspected drunk drivers all throughout the Labor Day holiday weekend.
Friday night, Officials with the La Vergne Police Department were out conducting sobriety checkpoints, and also making sure drivers and their passengers were wearing seat belts.
Local police agencies have also joined forces with the Tennessee Highway Patrol to ensure the roads are safe this Labor Day Weekend.
THP Troopers are gearing up for their "no refusal" enforcement campaign, which starts at 12 a.m. Saturday. The law allows officials to seek search warrants for blood samples in cases involving drivers they believe are impaired.
The goal is to get drunk drivers off the road in order to help save lives.
