4 Seriously Injured In I-40E Crash Near Cookeville
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – At least four people were injured during a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 40 eastbound in Putnam County, between Cookeville and Monterey.
Officials with the Tennessee Department of Transportation said the incident was reported around 9:15 p.m. Friday at mile marker 294.
Details of the collision were not immediately known.
Troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said three people, including a nine-year-old child, were airlifted from the scene to an area hospital.
Eastbound lanes of the interstate were closed while officials worked to clear the scene. Westbound traffic was not affected by the incident.
TDOT estimated the crash would be cleared by midnight.
