Hopkinsville's 'Bird Dog' Attacked, Robbed

HOPKINSVILLE, KY. - One of Hopkinsville's most colorful characters is home and recovering after being violently attacked and airlifted to Nashville.

The attack happened around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Steven Page, also known as “Bird Dog,” was attacked, beaten and robbed by a man with a gun near 18th and Bryan Streets.

Page said the man jumped into a waiting car and got away with his wallet, cash and cell phone.

Page was bleeding so badly he was airlifted to Nashville. His notorious "bark" will likely be quieted around Hopkinsville for at least a week as Bird Dog recovers.

"I was bleeding up a storm," Page said. "I said 'man that's what I get for being so nice to people.'"

Page has dozens of stitches and staples in his head, and his hands are bloodied. He said he's already received countless phone calls and people wanting to help him replace the money.

He said the money is replaceable. He wants his attacker caught.

Page described the man who attacked him as a slim man with short braids or dreadlocks. He said the man driving the car was a larger man with long dreadlocks.

If you have any information, call Hopkinsville Police.
