Country Singer Jake Owen Throws Free Beach Party

CREATED Aug 17, 2014 - UPDATED: Aug 18, 2014

NASHVILLE, Tenn. –  Thousands of people filled the back lot of the BMI Nashville office Monday for the second annual Jake Owen Beach Party on Music Row.

Some fans got in line outside of BMI as early as 7 a.m. just so they could be the first fans through the gate at the free concert.

Owen held the free concert for the first time in 2013, and organizers estimated 20,000 people attended the event.

They expected that size crowd, or bigger, this year.

Fans from across Middle Tennessee, and other parts of the country, made the trip to Nashville for the concert.

"We're going beachin', we're going beachin' tonight. Jake Owen concert, baby," said fan August Schaetz.

While fans were waiting in line late Monday morning, Owen pulled out of the BMI parking lot, stopped his car and got out.

"Can you take a picture for us?" Owen asked a near-by police officer.

He then posed for a large group photo with his fans, then went on to take more with several other people waiting in line.

"I moved here 10 years ago, I didn't know a soul, not one person. And 10 years later there are people standing in line waiting," Owen said.

The country artist was part of the crew out at the Music Row roundabout during the pre-dawn hours of Monday, dressing the famed Musica statue in hula skirts and leis, in celebration of the Beach Party.

'It's about me giving back, thanking this whole community for embracing me all these years," Owen said during an interview prior to his concert.

Fans got to see several acts play before Owen took the stage. It was a party atmosphere with many food trucks and bars to accommodate all the fans who came out to the 2014 beach party.
