NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A clerk was pistol-whipped during a robbery at a south Nashville gas station early Thursday morning.

Police released surveillance photos of the robbery at the Mapco near the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Nashboro Boulevard.

Just before 3:30 a.m., a small red hatchback with three men inside pulled up to the gas station. One man got out, and went up to the clerk who was outside the store.

He then pistol-whipped the clerk and got money from the safe.

During the robbery, the red hatchback with two other men fled the scene. When the robber came out of the store, he fled on foot.

The clerk was taken to South Hills Medical Center to be treated for a laceration to his head.

Officers used K9s to search the nearby area for the suspects, but no arrests were made.

Police said the hatchback was similar to one used in other robberies in the midtown area of Nashville, and it may possibly be stolen.

Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at (615)74-CRIME.
