Man Hurt In Fire That Destroyed La Vergne Home

CREATED Mar 28, 2014

LA VERGNE, Tenn. – A man was injured while trying to put out a fire at his family's home in La Vergne early Friday morning.

The fire broke out just before 3 a.m. on Old Farm Trail near Almondwood Place.

When firefighters arrived, heavy flames were seen coming from the majority of the home.

All four people living there made it out safely, but the father dislocated his shoulder and suffered burns while trying to fight the fire before firefighters arrived.

He was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where he was listed in stable condition.

Both Smyrna and La Vergne fire departments battled the blaze, but the home was a total loss.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
