Rascal Flatts' lead guitarist Joe Don Rooney broke news last weekend that he and his wife, Tiffany Fallon, are expecting their third baby. Joe Don made the surprise announcement during his show on closing night of the Nashville Songwriters Association International's 22nd Annual Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival on March 29. Tiffany was in attendance at the show, held at Nashville nightclub the Listening Room.

Performing in the round with fellow Nashville songwriters: Dave Berg, Nathan Chapman and Courtney Cole, Joe Don played a handful of Rascal Flatts favorites, including "Sunday Afternoon," "She Goes All The Way," "Sunrise," and "Life Is a Highway," and also debuted his own "Moon Tan" and "Back to OK."

Before he returned to his roots and went "Back to OK," Okie Joe Don made the very intimate announcement.

"My sweet wife is here tonight, Ms. Tiffany, and we don't get to see each other that much anymore, but we get to see each other tonight, we had a little dinner before we got here," Joe Don said before adding, "and somehow we're pregnant." The room was momentarily quiet, as no one seemed to know if they should laugh or applaud. And then came delayed applause.

"It happens fast these days, I'm telling y'all," laughed Joe Don, as the applause heightened and laughter filled the sold-out room.

Joe Don continued, "It's funny, because people keep asking, 'Do you know what you're having?' and I go to the back in my mind to this time that I heard Dolly Parton say -- and it's the funniest thing ever -- somebody asked her what she was having and she said -- and I believe this -- she said 'I don't mind what the sex of the baby is, as long it stays the same sex its whole life.' Healthy and the same sex its whole life. [Laughs] But Tiff, thanks for being here. I know we have crazy schedules, but baby, just having you here with me just feels amazing. I got my soul mate, my partner, the momma of my babies and the angel to come."

The couple has two children. Their first, son Jagger Donovan, was born in 2008. Daughter Raquel Blue graced their lives two years later. They have been married since 2006 and reside in Nashville.
