The Green Bay Packers' starting QB who has missed every game since November 4th with a broken collarbone will have a re-evaluation and decision for his availability on Friday.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy confirmed Thursday that Rodgers' status will be decided for Sunday's must-win matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lambeau Field.
McCarthy: I will have an announcement tomorrow. Aaron looked very good in practice today.— Tom Silverstein (@TomSilverstein) December 19, 2013
When questioned by reporters about it Thursday, Rodgers kept rather quiet about the situation. Per those reporters:
Rodgers knows the hand he's been dealt—good or bad—but he just went through 20 Qs and revealed almost nothing about those cards.— Zach Kruse (@zachkruse2) December 19, 2013
Rodgers: "I'm clear of mind and my body feels good."— NFL: AroundTheLeague (@NFL_ATL) December 19, 2013
1 thing coming into focus on Aaron Rodgers decision: Rodgers, Mike McCarthy not calling shots. Dr. Pat McKenzie, Ted Thompson are. #Packers— Tom Oates (@TomOatesWSJ) December 19, 2013
I bet Aaron Rodgers is a hell of a poker player.— Zach Kruse (@zachkruse2) December 19, 2013
As reporters at Packers practice were able to see during the media-available minutes of Thursday's session:
MM: Rodgers practiced well today. Not medically cleared yet. We'll have that conversation tomorrow.— Rob Demovsky (@RobDemovsky) December 19, 2013
Rodgers was practicing. Took snaps with PS center Garth Gerhart. But in periods of practice open to us, Flynn and Tolzien got the reps.— Tyler Dunne (@TyDunne) December 19, 2013
At #Packers practice, Matt Flynn worked with the first team. Tolzien came in next. Rodgers was off to the side with McAdoo (like last Fri.).— Tyler Dunne (@TyDunne) December 19, 2013
#Packers WRs said yesterday they pretty much knew who was starting and the assumption was it is Flynn. Taking all the team reps says a lot.— Tom Silverstein (@TomSilverstein) December 19, 2013
Rodgers was scheduled to speak to the media Thursday after practice.
