Last off-season, the Packers signed Vince Young to compete for a roster spot, hoping he would be able to be the back-up quarterback the team needed.

It didn't work out for Young, and he was released before the season started. On May 1 of this year, he signed a one-year contract with the Cleveland Browns. He was released 11 days later.

With an NFL comeback looking unlikely, the former star at the University of Texas is calling it quits on his NFL career:

Young's best professional years came early on with the Tennessee Titans, where he was a Pro Bowl quarterback. Injuries hindered his progress as a player, and he was released after the 2010 season.

He retires with 46 touchdowns and 51 interceptions, having started 50 games between 2006 and 2011.
