Notes from Mike McCarthy's Tuesday presser

By Greg Matzek. CREATED Aug 12, 2014

Despite a morning of heavy rain, the Packers hit the practice field at Ray Nitscke field Tuesday afternoon. Wearing helmets and shells, Mike McCarthy and staff lead the team through a 1 hour 35 minute session. Returning to practice today was WR Jordy Nelson. Nelson had been sidelined for the past few days with a minor hamstring strain.

McCarthy met with the media following practice - below are some top-line notes.

  • Jordy practiced lightly was a scheduled shells and helmets practice.
  • Aaron Rodgers figures to play this weekend against the Rams after sitting out against the Titans.
  • WR Jeff Janis has made a play every day he has practiced. Hopeful he is cleared to play on Saturday.
  • Davante Adams wrist injury is not expected to be a long-term issue.
  • Defensive versatility is apparent. Still have a long way to go. Competition throughout will make it a difficult cut.
  • Safety position is much improved. Richardson and Banjo have a year under their belt.
  • Haven't asked a greaet deal of Peppers yet, but he has picked things up quickly.
  • Raji looks good.
  • Rookie TE Richard Rodgers seems to get better every day. Did some good things against Titans, and has some things he needs to work on.
  • Punt return: Cobb and Hyde are proven. DaJuan Harris has been consistent at kickoff return. Need to try out some more players.
  • Figures to keep workload for Lacy at a relatively low level during pre-season.

Now off to the locker room!
