MILWAUKEE - Lots of reports of trade discussions have abounded about the Milwaukee Brewers, with teams allegedly including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers.
On 620WTMJ's "Wisconsin's Morning News," Brewers co-announcer Joe Block discussed the possible moves the team could make, and the short timeline within the MLB trade deadline.
"We're getting two weeks away now. The Brewers have not committed to anything," explained Joe.
"I think the approach Doug Melvin has talked about is, 'We're listening. We're going to entertain things. We're going to look.' "
Block reiterated that Melvin believes high value for trades is key, and not just the simple philosophy of selling someone before they could leave as a free agent and give the Brewers nothing in return.
"At this point, there's no need to give away guys, but if teams are willing to offer guys - as we saw last year with Jean Segura, Ariel Pena and Johnny Hellweg coming over for Zach Greinke - if teams are willing to offer guys that can be some pieces that can really help the Brewers if not immediately, pretty close to that, Doug Melvin will listen."
