Today is the 20th anniversary of the discovery of pro football Hall of Famer O.J. Simpson's dead ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson.

The bodies of Nicole and Ron Goldman were found outside of Nicole's Los Angeles condo shortly after midnight on June 13, 1994. O.J. was detained shortly afterwards and questioned about the murders.

After being initially released by the Los Angeles Police Department, Simpson was supposed to turn himself in for their murders four days later.

He never showed.

What happened next was a low-speed police chase with a gun-toting O.J. in the back seat of a white Ford Bronco on Interstate 405.

The chase captivated people around the nation as it played out in front of their eyes on their local television stations. Domino's Pizza reported record pizza delivery numbers during the 60 mile long pursuit, which happened during prime viewing time.

Simpson eventually surrendered.

The Simpson trial was billed as the "Trial of the Century" and made a star of lawyer Johnny Cochran, the charismatic lead defense attorney who eventually got O.J. off the hook.

The not guilty verdict cost Simpson his fortune though. He had to pawn most of his merchandise to pay for his legal defense.

Thirteen years later, in September 2007, Simpson robbed a memorabilia dealer at Palace Station. He was convicted in 2008 and is in prison right now in the state of Nevada.

More people now believe that Simpson was guilty of murder. That is according a new poll by CNN/ORC International. Overall, 66 percent of Americans believed he was guilty in 1994 and 83 percent believe he is guilty of murder now.

Simpson recently filed a new appeal of his robbery conviction.
