LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling says he is not racist, just jealous

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, who was banned from the NBA for life because of racist remarks, says he was only trying to get V. Stiviano into bed.

According to RadarOnline, Sterling told a friend during a recorded conversation that he was trying to get his assistant and rumored mistress into bed and was jealous after he saw pictures of her with black men.

The information was revealed in two separate recordings of conversations with a supposed friend that RadarOnline released late last week.

On Sunday night, CNN reported that it would be broadcasting an interview with Sterling on Monday. In the interview, Sterling tells CNN that he made a terrible mistake, but is not a racist.

Sterling also said he would never do it again and that he is apologizing and asking for forgiveness.

In addition, Sterling told CNN's Anderson Cooper that he was baited into what he said.

Despite previous reports that Stiviano was Sterling's girlfriend, she is insisting that she has never had sex with Sterling.

However, many say that the original recording doesn't sound like someone who is simply jealous and if it did, Sterling probably wouldn't be in the trouble that he is in now.

The mayor of Los Angeles has said he believes that Sterling will likely fight any sanctions imposed on him by the NBA for making the racist remarks.

Shelly Sterling, who is co-owner of the team with her husband Donald, told ABC News' Barbara Walters on Sunday that she intends to fight any attempt by the league to make her sell the team.

She also said that she does not believe her estranged husband is a racist, but thinks he is in the "onset of dementia."

The NBA responded that its rules stipulate that when the controlling owner's stake in a team is terminated, so are the stakes of any other owners.
