They don't call him "Money" for nothing.

Undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the highest-paid athlete in the world, according to Forbes magazine.

Mayweather made $105 million in the last 12 months for just 72 minutes of work in the ring. Or, if you want to look at it another way, $1,458,333 per minute.

Mayweather is the first athlete besides Tiger Woods to earn $100 million in Forbes' annual tally. Woods, who earned $61.2 million, was bumped from the No. 1 spot the previous year to No. 6 for this year.

Second on the list is Real Madrid soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo. He earned $80 million.

NBA star LeBron James came in third on the highest-paid athlete list with more than $72 million in earnings; soccer player Lionel Messi made $64.7 million; and NBA basketball player Kobe Bryant earned $61.5 million to round out the top five.

The 100 highest-paid athletes in the world earned a collective $2.75 billion in the last 12 months. Earnings include direct pay and endorsement deals. Mayweather earns 100 percent of his income for what he does in the ring.

Ten different sports are represented in the Top 100 list. Baseball is the sport that has the most representatives with 27 on the list. However, Philadelphia Phillies' pitcher Cliff Lee was the only one from that sport included in the list's top 30.

Twenty-seven countries are represented on the list, which includes 60 Americans.

The rankings are based on the time period between June 1, 2013, and June 1, 2014. The list only includes athletes who are currently active in their sport. Otherwise, retired NBA star Michael Jordan would have easily been near the top of the list with an estimated $90 million in earnings for the last year.
