GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Max Bobholz, an 8th grader at Red Smith School in Green Bay and his parents have recently started a charity, Angels at Bat, to supply baseball equipment to underprivileged children in Africa. "My memories, lessons, everything has been learned through baseball." Max explains.
So with the help of his mother and the community Max started collecting, bats, balls and gloves to give to the less fortunate in areas like Uganda. "I saw how little they had and how much we have in our garages, getting frozen or collecting dust".
For years Coach Todd Williquette was a very influential person in Max's life. But, with his sudden passing, Max is helping to carry on his legacy. "On all the equipment we'll be putting number 20 which is my coaches baseball number"
This summer, Max and his mother will be traveling with a group to a remote village in Africa where they will finally be able to make Max's dream come true. "Giving to people is probably the number one thing you can do in life".
