APPLETON -- After a challenge from Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt, the mayors of Appleton, Manitowoc, and De Pere got together today at the Appleton Farmer's Market this morning to take the ice bucket challenge.
It's all part of a fundraising campaign to Strike Out ALS, which is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. "We were called out as mayors, and I said okay. So I called my fellow mayors and said 'Let's do this together,' and they said absolutely, and lets do it in a place that's got a lot of people, we can bring a lot of attention to what this is really all about," said Appleton Mayor Tim Hanna.
