Soldier Homecoming in Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis.- A happy homecoming today for nearly 80 local soldiers.  The Wisconsin National Guard's 121st Field Artillery unit returned to Oshkosh this afternoon after spending 10 months away from their families.

Hundreds of people flooded Hangar C at EAA in Oshkosh waiting for loved ones they say have been gone far too long.

80 troops from the 121st Field Artillery unit out of Plymouth returned today.  Two buses brought them here from the Outagamie County Airport.  They were on a highly classified mission overseas in Afghanistan, on a 10 month long deployment.  Now they're just happy to be home reunited with loved ones.

Many families say it's been hard without their soldiers around for almost a year, but they have big plans now that they've come home safe and sound.

Family and friends say they plan to celebrate the safe return with  either a welcome home party, a fresh home-cooked meal or just spending time together after being apart for so long.
