Shoveling out snow covered fire hydrants
GREEN BAY, WI -The heavy snowfall is affecting first responders who have to work harder to locate fire hydrants.
Some parts of the area saw about a foot of snow, enough to cover the hydrants completely.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department says if they can't locate a hydrant quickly it can lead to limited water on a call.
They're asking for your help as you shovel outside your home, hoping that neighbors will shovel out the hydrants even if they're not on your lawn.
"We are asking for like a three foot area around the hydrant and more importantly a path to the hydrant so we can jump off the fire engine and hook it up very quickly," said Lt. Nick Craig with the Green Bay Fire Dept.
The Green Bay Fire Department has a computer in each truck to let firefighters know where the hydrants are within a 15 foot radius.
