Ashwaubenon Has New Safe Routes to School
ASHWAUBENON -- There's just one week until the 2013 school year begins and the Ashwaubenon Public School District is working to help your kids get to school safely.
They cut the ribbon today on a brand new biking and walking path near Valley View Elementary School. Project leaders say they hope it will encourage kids to walk or bike to school. "To help guarantee student safety and as the Safe Routes to School Program does, we want to promote walking and biking and the healthier lifestyles that those create," says School District Information Coordinator Brad Taylor.
The project was funded by a grant from the State Department of Transportation. Crews also revamped an existing path along Orrie Lane.
