APPLETON -- Every thirteen seconds a child is reported abused or neglected in the United States.
Tonight, Mid-Day Women's Alliance hosted a Black and Pink Ball benefiting B.A.B.E.S. in Appleton. B.A.B.E.S. is a non-profit child abuse prevention group working to support families in Outagamie County with young parents that need help getting back on their feet. Organizers for tonight's benefit say they're happy to help a group that focuses on keeping kids safe.
"It makes a better community when the families are safe. We know that is something that we want to give back to our community," says Black and Pink Ball Co-Chair Barbara Sexmith.
In addition to counseling, B.A.B.E.S. also provides free childcare to parents in need.
