After a run-in with school officials on "picture day," Florida mother Ashley Habat took to Facebook to vent over her frustration. However, her post resulted in her 4-year-old being expelled.
Late to school, Habat mentioned to an administrator at Sonshine Christian Academy in Callahan that parents were not given enough notice of the event. However, Habat was told that Will, her preschooler, was given a "picture day" notice the week before.
Habat then took to Facebook and posted a status: “Why is it that every single day there is something new I dislike about Will's School? Are my standards really too high or are people working in the education field really just that ignorant,” reports local outlet, News 4 Jax.
Will's mother claims that she thought that her status was private, allowing only her Facebook friends to see, However, she made the mistake of tagging the school.
Habat received a call from the school asking her to stop by their main office before the following school day.
According to News 4 Jax, “They just felt like we weren't the right fit, parent relationship with the school, and that they didn't want him as a student anymore,” Habat was told. “He had done nothing wrong.”
Habat also received a formal letter of dismissal from Sonshine Christian Academy: Habat's “relationship with Sonshine did not get off to a very good start the first day of school ... You utilized social media to call into question not only the integrity but the intelligence of our staff ... These actions are also consistent with sowing discord, which is spoken of in the handbook you signed," News 4 Jax further reports.
