Record Cool Temperatures In The Ozarks
Several record lows were either tied or broken in the Ozarks this morning.
Springfield tied the record this morning at 54°. West Plains also tied a record by dropping to 53°.
The Joplin and Vichy airport stations broke record lows this morning at 50° and 51° respectively.
Springfield probably would have broken a record this morning too but a pesky cloud deck caused the temperature to rise a few degrees in the pre-dawn hours! It went from 56° at 3 a.m. to 59° at 5 a.m. Finally at 6:06 a.m., the temperature fell back down to 54°.
Joplin's record low of 50° tied the all-time coolest low for July which occurred back on July 13th, 1975.
