Springfield Lasers Host WTT Finals On Sunday

For the first time in it's 19 year history, the Springfield Lasers will host the Myan World Team Tennis Finals.
The Lasers will play Eastern Conference Champion Washington Kastles at Cooper Tennis Complex beginning at 4pm on Sunday.
Springfield Greene County Park Board Spokeswoman Jenny Filmer Edwards says fans with unused 2014 home season tickets will be able to trade them for a seat in the grandstand. She says Finals tickets are required for admission. Ticket holders are advised to "Flip for the Finals" and trade up prior to match time on Sunday.

.For the second year in a row, the Springfield Lasers are the 2014 Mylan World TeamTennis Western Conference Champions, following a 22-17 victory over the San Diego Aviators Thursday night in San Diego.
Springfield will host the Championship Final Sunday, July 27, 4 p.m. at Cooper Tennis Complex’s Mediacom Tennis Stadium. The Lasers face Eastern Conference Champions the Washington Kastles in a battle for the King Trophy, named for Mylan WTT co-founders Billie Jean King and Larry King.
This is the first time Springfield has hosted the finals, although it’s the Lasers’ fifth finals appearance. As win Sunday would be Springfield’s first King Trophy. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
In effort to pack the house, the Springfield Lasers is offering a special “Flip for the Finals” ticket exchange. Any unused ticket for the Lasers’ 2014 home season may be traded in for a Grandstand ticket for Sunday’s final. Finals tickets are required for admission, so ticket holders are advised to “Flip for the Finals” and trade up prior to match time Sunday.
Tickets for Sunday’s match will be available 4-9 p.m. today, 8 a.m.- 9 p.m. Saturday and starting at 8 a.m. Sunday at Cooper Tennis Complex, 2331 E. Pythian Ave., Springfield. Tickets are $10 Grandstand, $20 Box Seats. Tickets may be also purchased at 417-837-5800. (No trade-ins taken over the phone.) Gates and concessions open at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The Lasers and the Kastles are familiar foes. Sunday will be a rematch of the 2013 and 2009 Lasers vs. Kastles finals match-up. The Kastles won both those finals, as well as 2011 and 2012.
