VIDEO: 100 MPH Police Chase Ends With Spike Strips In Springfield

By Chase Snider. CREATED Jul 20, 2013

What started as a routine attempted traffic stop in Nixa quickly changed when the driver tore off at over a 100 miles-per-hours towards Springfield just before 1AM Saturday morning.

Suspects Take Police On Run In and Out Of Springfield

Despite their best efforts to stop the Dodge Durango with spike strips, the suspects managed to weave in and out of Springfield neighborhoods. Dispatch traffic from the chase showed them popping up everywhere from the south side near Fort and Battlefield to West Bypass.

Puppy Gets Thrown Out, Driving Through Fences

Along the way the suspects opened the door and apparently threw a puppy out during the chase. No word yet on how that dog is doing. It appears they may have also caused property damage when driving in and out of some yards.

Nixa Gets Help From Other Agencies

Springfield Police, Greene County deputies, and Ozark police all assisted in that chase. It finally ended in a neighborhood near Kansas Expressway and Chestnut Expressway after 2AM. That was after police say three patrol cars had been struck by the suspects.

Two people were taken into custody. Nixa police tell KTTS News reporter Chase Snider at the scene they both had outstanding warrants in Greene County.

Nixa police also say they are testing what they believe to be controlled substances found in the car.

No injuries have been reported to anyone from the chase so far.
