A man who threatened a mail carrier in Springfield on Saturday has been charged with first degree assault.
Police say Joseph Barr was arrested after officers had to pull their weapons to disarm him.
Barr is accused of trying to get help breaking into a closed business when he held a knife to the postal workers throat at Walnut Lawn and Campbell.
Barr then tried to break in the building on his own.
