Man Likely Shot Himself After Setting Property On Fire

Sheriff Fairly Confident Man Set Property On Fire Before Killing Himself

A man found shot in the chest on some property north of Halltown is identified by Lawrence County Sheriff Brad Delay as Claud Sullins.  He was 73. 

Sheriff Delay says he's pretty confident that Sullins set fire to his house and two outbuildings before shooting himself.

A gun was found near the body.  A motive is unclear. 


Death And Fire Investigation In Lawrence County

The Lawrence County Sheriff says a man has been found dead near Halltown.

Sheriff Brad Delay says the man was found with a gunshot wound to his chest on the property on County Road 1235 near Highway Z.

Delay says the case is being investigated as a homicide until authorities know exactly how the man died.

Firefighters from five different departments have been trying to put out flames at a house and a couple of outbuildings. 

Assistant KTTS News Director Nancy Simpson says the house burned to the ground.

Lawrence County authorities are working a homicide on County Road 1235 near Halltown.

Firefighters from three different departments are also on the scene battling a house fire and fires at a couple of other structures.
