City Denies Permit For Springfield Group Home

City Denies Permit For Springfield Group Home

By Lynne Roberts. CREATED Mar 14, 2014

A group home in southeast Springfield has been given 30 days to close or move.

The City of Springfield said in a letter to the Farris Robertson, the manager of Recovery Chapel, that it was denying his application for an "occupancy permit" due to multiple ordinance and code violations.

Chris Straw, the city's Director of Building Service, said the home at 1809 East Crestview is classified as a "community corrections facility" and not a "group home," because it is housing more than one person on probation and/or parole.

The property owner has 30-days to bring the home into compliance, appeal to the Board of Adjustments, relocate, or move out of the city limits.
