Springfield, Mo. — Veteran meteorologist Ted Keller is joining the KTTS Storm Team as the radio station’s first meteorologist.
Beginning September 9, he will forecast weather on all of the Journal Broadcast Group stations in Springfield, Mo., provide extensive coverage on each of the station’s websites, and be the “voice behind the radar” in cases of severe weather.
Known as “Tornado Ted,” Keller’s face and trusted voice are known throughout the Ozarks.
He served as the Chief Meteorologist for KOLR-TV, the CBS affiliate in Springfield, for more than a quarter century.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ted to the KTTS Storm Team. The station has had a reputation for more than 40 years of being first on the air and first on the streets to protect families when severe weather threatens the Ozarks. Ted’s knowledge and expertise, combined with the experienced KTTS mobile news and weather team, will be an unbeatable combination in keeping folks in southwest Missouri safe and informed,” said News Director Don Louzader.
“I’m extremely excited to become a part of the KTTS Storm Team! They have an established record of professional reporting when severe weather strikes the Ozarks,” Keller said. “I can’t wait to add my weather expertise to the team.
“The weather in the Ozarks changes rapidly. Radio, along with its connected social media, is the fastest and most efficient way to get the word out when the weather turns severe,” he added.
Journal Broadcast Group’s Springfield Operations include 104.1 KSGF (KSGF-AM/FM), Today’s KTTS 94.7 FM (KTTS-FM), The New 106.7 The River (KRVI-FM) and Power 96.5 (KSPW-FM).
