Salvation Army Breaks Record At Cold Weather Shelter
The Salvation Army in Springfield says it housed a record number 200 people in it's emergency shelter overnight.
And it'll be open again tonight.
Spokesman Jeff Smith says twice a year they do a 'homeless count' and this number is right on target.
He says that's not counting the hundreds who already take more permanant shelter at the Salvation Army, Victory Mission or Missouri Hotel.
Of the 200 who showed up last night, 165 of those were men, 31 women and four families with childen. The cold weather shelter has been open a total of 18 days so far this winter.
