Local Lawmaker Files Volunteer Health Services Act
Missouri Capitol Building in Jefferson City
Getting more doctors and other medical personel from other states to volunteer to help the poor in Missouri is the goal of the Volunteer Health Services Act.
Springfield's 136th District representative, Eric Burlison has filed that bill in Jefferson City.
He also tells KTTS News the bill is designed to make doctors not be afraid to provide free health care to those in need.
The Volunteer Health Services Act would protect medical personel who volunteer from frivolous lawsuits.
Last year the House and Senate each approved similar bills, but could not come together on a final agreement before the session ended.
