We’ve already reported that Brad Paisley is lending both his speaking and singing voice the new Disney movie, “Planes: Fire and Rescue,” in which he plays the role of a pickup truck and provides new music for the soundtrack. Now, Kellie Pickler is getting animated as well. The bubbly country star is lending her voice to a new VeggieTales movie, “Beauty and the Beet.” That’s beet, as in the vegetable of course.

In the winter-themed film, based on the classic fairy tale “Beauty and the Beast,” Kellie stars as a sweet potato named Mirabelle, the lead singer of a family band who forms an unlikely friendship with an angry beet.
According to PR materials for the film, Mirabelle’s band “meets with unexpected trouble when an angry innkeeper makes them feel unwelcome. As she befriends the Beet and matches his harshness with loving acts, Mirabelle proves that compassion and kindness reap their own rewards.”
“Beauty and the Beet” features seven original songs performed by Kellie, which will appear a companion CD that also features her rendition of the holiday classic “Deck the Halls.”
Brad’s film opens in theaters Friday, while Kellie’s direct-to-video release will be out October 14. The corresponding album will be released to coincide with the DVD, and will be available for download via iTunes.
