Olive Crest helps foster teens with educational goals and more

Project Independence at Olive Crest provides educational assistance, job placement and life skils to current and former foster youth ages 17 to 21.

Olive Crest, which was established in 1973, is dedicated to preventing child abuse and treating and educating at-risk children. They also strive to preserve family units.

Project Indepence is a program designed to meet the specific needs of young people in Las Vegas. It includes helping them complete their education, pursue a secondary education or find a job.

List of services provided:

-- GED preparation/High School Diploma/Vocational Training/College
-- Workshops related to resume building, interview preparation and overall work readiness
-- Job Shadowing/On-The-Job Training
-- Part/Full-Time Employment
-- Career Advancement
-- Budgeting Assistance
-- Securing I.D.’s, Birth Certificates & Social Security Cards

A benefit for the group is taking place May 10 at the ghost bar in The Palms. Sponsorships or individual tickets ($200) can be purchased by contacting Jeanne Frederick at jeanne-frederick@olivecrest.org or 702-835-1908.

All sponsorships/tickets include appetizers, open bar, silent/live auction, entertainment and the opportunity to meet 200 of the biggest movers and shakers in the city. The event is restricted to 200 attendees.
