Las Vegas Urban League offers program for troubled youth

The Las Vegas Urban League offers the Urban Empowerment Program Youth.

The program is free of charge to people who meet the following eligibility requirements:

-- 18 to 24 years old
-- currently or previously involved in the adult criminal or juvenile justice syustems or a high school dropout without a criminal record
-- available for programming five days a week between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
-- residing in targeted zip codes including 89030, 89032, 89101, 89106, 89108 and 89110 (other zip codes may be accepted on case-by-case basis
-- no sex offences

Services provided:

-- hands-on expeirence and access to employers
-- GED instruction, study materials and test vouchers
-- job placement assistance and retention services
-- personalized financial planning services and counseling
-- access to legal advisers, mentors, case managers and tutors
-- stipends and needs-based payments for participation in select activities
-- on-going services provided for duration of the program up to one year
-- referrals for those deemed not eligible for UYEP
-- priority enrollment for veterans
