Many local students will now have the supplies needed for the 2014-2015 school year, thanks to a record-breaking, valley-wide drive hosted by Bank of America.
Throughout the month of August, the bank hosted its fourth annual school supply drive to benefit local at-risk schools, Sandy Miller Elementary School and Monaco Middle School.
12,806 supplies were collected at Bank of America locations across Southern Nevada; a record number of supplies collected by the bank in the community since the drive's inception in 2011.
In its first three years, the drive collected a total of 21,000 supplies.
Items collected include paper, backpacks, pens and pencils, P.E. equipment and school uniform garments. The supplies will directly support the schools' students who are unable to obtain the basic materials needed for school.
Bank of America volunteers plan to deliver the supplies to the schools on Sept. 9.
