The grand opening for the newest hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip this weekend will be one to be remember.
According to SLS Las Vegas, more than 3,000 VIPs, celebrities, political figures, members of the media and others are expected to attend a multi-million dollar grand opening party on Aug. 22.
Red carpet arrivals will begin at 7 p.m. Some of the guests scheduled to walk the carpet include Founder, Chairman and CEO of sbe Sam Nazarian, Culinary Director of SLS Las Vegas José Andrés, designer and Creative Director of SLS Las Vegas Philippe Starck, Lenny Kravitz, Sharon Stone, Jamie Foxx, Iggy Azalea, Aaron Paul, Emile Hirsch, Dita Von Teese, Brittany Snow, JhenéAiko, Adam DeVine, JoJo, Pia Toscano, Shane West, Samantha Ronson, The Righteous Young, Chuck Liddell (UFC Champion), and Jermaine Jones(USMNT soccer player).
The party will feature a performance by Australian rapper Iggy Azalea and a surprise guest. Azalea, whose song "Fancy" has been the hit of the summer, will perform at the Foxtail Pool stage, according to a press release from sbe Entertainment.
The private grand opening party is sponsored by Pepsi, Beats Music and BMW.
SLS Las Vegas will open to the public at midnight Aug. 23. At the same time, guests and VIPS will enjoy a state-of-the-art pyrotechnical performance by the world-renowned Fireworks by Grucci, the same company previously responsible for fireworks in Las Vegas on New Year's Eve. According to Phil Grucci, the company has created a one-of-a-kind fireworks display that reflects the luxurious and stylish standards of SLS Las Vegas.
For those wishing to attend the opening, parking at the hotel-casino will only be available in the lot just south of the property. The lot is accessible from Paradise Road. Guests can also access the resort directly via the Las Vegas Monorail. Las Vegas police officers will be on hand to direct traffic that night.
The new hotel-casino offers more than 1.600 guest rooms and suites in three distinctive towers; 80,000-square-feet of meeting space; and a collection of sbe's acclaimed restaurant and nightlife brands.
Nightclubs and bars include Hollywood favorite The Sayers Club; the edgy and sophisticated nightclub Foxtail; and mega-club, LiFE. Upcoming performers at LiFE include EDM DJ/producer Borgore on Sept. 5; Chris Lake on Sept. 6; EDX on Sept. 7; and Fatboy Slim on Sept. 20.
Restaurants include Bazaar Meat by José Andrés; Katsuya by Starck; Cleo; Umami Burger, Beer Garden & Sports Book; Ku Noodle; 800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria; The Griddle Cafe; The SLS Buffet and The Perq.
Bazaar Meat by José Andrés is the third incarnation of the award-winning Bazaar dining concept and is unlike any that have come before it. The restaurant is described as a "lavish celebration of all things carnivorous" and promises to showcase meat in its purest form with a tartare bar and a variety of carpaccios and cured meats.
Ku Noodle is Andres' homage to Asian cuisine and will showcase the artistry of hand-pulled and cut noodles. Its menu consists of an array of noodles, soups, siu mai, rice, vegetables and salads.
The Griddle Cafe has been described as the "Disneyland of Breakfast." This will be the first location outside of Los Angeles.
Katsuya by Starck will deliver a true feast for the senses courtesy of Master Sushi Chef Katsuya Uechi. The menu is loaded with signature offerings of artfully crafted sushi and sashimi platters, rolls, robata and specialty cocktails.
Guests who dine at Cleo will enjoy a contemporary Mediterranean shared-plates menu of mezze, tagines and flatbreads.
800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza honors the Old World tradition with an ingredient-focused menu of Neapolitan pizzas featuring California-grown tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and handcrafted crusts made with flour from the ancient Molino San Felice in Naples.
The SLS Buffet will feature cuisine from around the globe including Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Mediterranean.
The Perq, which is located near guest registration, is an European-inspired cafe.
The properties two bars are the Monkey Bar, which is the lobby bar, and the Center Bar, which is located right in the middle of the casino floor.
The property also boasts a 10,000-square-foot Fred Segal retail experience, Ciel Spa, and a sports book operated by William Hill.
SLS Las Vegas is located on the site of the old Sahara hotel-casino. It costs $415 million to renovate the property.
