Rooftop dining area now open at Carson Kitchen
The rooftop is now open at Carson Kitchen in downtown Las Vegas for both dining and cocktails.
The 910-square-foot, garden-style rooftop offers seating up to 30 guests at full-waited tables along with an additional 10 seats at the expansive granite bar. Carson Kitchen's full food menu is available for purchase on the patio to accompany an array of signature cocktails, small-bath American beers and globally-inspired wines.
Carson Kitchen is Chef Kerry Simon's new American restaurant in partnership with hospitality veteran, Cory Harwell. The intimate restaurant is located inside the old John. E Carson Hotel at 124 South 6th St. in Downtown Las Vegas and features social plates, entrées, sandwiches and stone-oven flatbreads, in addition to small-batch wine and craft beers. All of the dishes are made with locally-based ingredients and are priced under $20.
Matt Andrews is the executive chef for Carson Kitchen. The restaurant employs approximately 50 people and is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily for lunch and dinner.
Chef Kerry Simon, dubbed the "Rock 'n' Roll Chef" by Rolling Stone Magazine, had developed a number of award-winning restaurants and starred on "Iron Chef America" and "Hell's Kitchen." He was recently honored with a memorabilia case at the Hard Rock Hotel -- the first non-musician to have such a case. Simon is currently battling an aggressive form of Parkinson's Disease but is still very active in his ventures.
The 65-room hotel, built in 1955, was purchased by the Downtown Project in 2012. Since then, it has been completely remodeled and became home to several businesses, including Carson Kitchen, O Face Doughnuts, Grass Roots, Black Spade Tattoo and Bud & Vine. There is also a small courtyard to customers to drink juice or enjoy their doughnuts.
