Local Ray Bogart competing in final episode of 'World Food Championships'

Las Vegas-area chef Ray Bogart will be showing off his skills tonight when he fires up his grill for the Final Table in the sixth and final episode of "World Food Championships" on the FYI Network.
Bogart and 300 other professional chefs and home cooks competed in the 2013 World Food Championships in Las Vegas, which is the basis for the realty television series.
61-year-old Bogart, who is a resident of Boulder City, has been cooking competitive chili for 8 years in approximately 200 chili cook-offs from coast to coast.
Bogart’s training is exclusive to the “school of hard knocks on the chili competition trail” where he has learned the value of note taking and immediately getting back in the game despite the sometimes less-than-desired outcomes.
Bogart submitted a traditional red chili using beef tri-tip called Hacienda Red in the first round of the 2013 food competition. His next batch of chili was a freestyle chili named Hog Heaven Green.
For the Final Table, Bogart was required to use bison, which he had never used before in competition. Bogart chose to use ground bison for his chili and added a bit of sausage to bolster the overall flavor of the dish.

The World Food Championships television series features a global cast of competitive cooks and chefs from all walk of life in a live-fire, tournament-style showdown.
The show will air at 8 p.m. PT.
Other chefs competing on the final episode include Dave Elliott of Porky McBeef and the Cluckers (Olathe, KS); Victor Howard of Pitmaker BBQ Addiction (Houston, TX); Wade Fortin of Second City Smoke (Chicago, IL); Ricardo Heredia (San Diego, CA); Beth Peterson (Naperville, IL); and Jennifer Daskevich (Los Angeles, CA).
Las Vegas celebrity columnist Robin Leach will also appear on tonight's show.
