13 Things To Do This Week On The Las Vegas Strip

List of 13 Things To Do On The Las Vegas Strip for Aug. 21-28:

1. Against Me! is described as a band that "laughs at danger and breaks all the rules." The band began as an anarchist solo act in Gainsveille, Florida, in 1997. Now, there are four members and they are performing Aug. 22 at the Brooklyn Bowl.

2. The Balloon Master (Rob Cole) is presenting his last show at the Clarion Hotel (they are tearing it down) on Aug. 22. If you haven't heard of the show, it is a crazy mixture of sketch comedy, burlesque, contests, live music, corn dogs and incredible balloon creations.

3. Joy Behar is returning to the comedy circuit after leaving the popular morning show "The View" and will perform Aug. 22 and 23 during the Lipshtick Comedy Series in the Sands Showroom at The Venetian. In addition to being an Emmy Award-winning talk-show host, Behar has also written two books titled Joy Schtick -- Or What Is the Existential Vacuum and Does It Come with Attachments?" and the children's book "Sheetzucacapoopoo: My Kind of Dog."

4. Enjoy the comfy seating at The Chandelier Bar inside The Cosmopolitan and listen to Slim Jenkins, the San Francisco band known for its great American roots music and its tradition of innovation and energy, Aug. 22-24. The music begins at 9 p.m. each night and there is no cover charge.

5. The Presidents of the United States of America, an American alternative rock band from Seattle, will rock the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay on Aug. 23.

6. Multi-award winning, platinum-selling singer-songwriter John Legend will perform at The Cosmopolitan on Aug. 24. Legend has won nine Grammy Awards, three Soul Train Awards, the BET Award for Best New Artist and the special Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

7. Female country music singer/songwriter duo and faces behind the hit "Girl In A Country Song" Maddie & Tae will perform one night only at Gilley's Saloon, Dance Hall & Bar-B-Que on Aug. 25. Free show.

8. "40 Is Not The New 20" is a new show opening Aug. 25 at The Riviera. The show stars 25-year comedy veteran Matt Kazam in a 70-minute stand-up comedy production. The show explores how much the world has changed in the past 40 years. Tickets are appropriately priced at $40 (plus tax, of course).

9. The Brad Paisley "Moonshine in the Trunk" Pool Party with special guests Love and Theft, Leah Turner and Dee Jay Silver is taking place Aug. 27 at The Cosmopolitan's Boulevard Pool. "Moonshine in the Trunk," which is Paisley's 9th album, is set to be released Aug. 25.

10. 'What to Eat First? The Chicken or the Egg' is next up for the Executive Chef's Culinary Classroom on Aug. 27 at The Bellagio. Participants will lean how to create an inventive three-course meal highlighting ingredients including chicken and eggs. Cost is $125.

11. According to rumor, you only have a few days left to see a Las Vegas legend in action at Harrah's Las Vegas. Lounge performer Cook E. Jarr will give his final performance at Harrah's on Aug. 27. Jarr has been entertaining locals and tourists with his covers of popular songs from Sinatra to Usher and his big personality. No word yet on what he plans on doing next.

12. Northern California-based reggae group Groundation will bring their mix of jazz, funk, salsa, soul and transcendental dub to the Brooklyn Bowl on Aug. 28. Show is open to everyone ages 18 and up.

13. Comedian Eddie Griffin performs in the King's Room at Rio Las Vegas. Griffin appeared in the popular sitcom "Malcolm & Eddie" and movies including "Deuce Bigalow" and "Undercover Brother." No subject is safe from Griffin. He cracks jokes about politics, religion, dating and race.
