Smarty Paws opens new location, offers Pets for Vets program

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Dog lovers can check out a new place to get canine coaching closer to the center of town.

Smarty Paws is opening a new location on West Russell Road. Saturday's grand opening celebration will help more veterans get paired up with service dogs.

In addition to training all of our dogs, Smarty Paws has a Pets for Vets program. They pull animals out of shelters and train them to serve returning veterans.

Some of the soldiers suffer from PTSD and the dogs help calm them so they can live more normal lives.

Owner Donna Foreman said they've placed dozens of dogs in vet's homes, "And we continue to get more calls every day from vets who need dogs and from vets who have a dog and they come in and we evaluate them and help them train their dogs to help them."

The grand opening will feature a Sin City hot rod car show in the parking lot, raffle prizes and other ways for folks to support the pets for vets program.

The event is free Sept. 6 between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at Smarty Paw's new location at 4544 West Russell Road, Suite C & D.
