Positively Las Vegas Mailbag

By Beth Fisher. CREATED Mar 11, 2014

Since launching Making Las Vegas A Better Place to Live, we have been humbled by the response. Turns out, you like positive news and we love to deliver it. In the Positively Las Vegas mailbag, we are showcasing three things.

First, Lake Mead Christian Academy just installed a solar array.  It  will save the school about $10,000 a year and it was made possible thanks to a grant from NV Energy and the generosity of Black Rock Solar, which did the installation for free.

Second, we salute Matt Dorman, a local musician. For 16 years, he's performed with his band at WestCare's women and children's campus. These are women recovering from substance abuse. The concerts are used as a teaching tool, showing women how to party and have fun while sober.
Finally a giant congratulations to Bonner Elementary and their incredible principal, Mr. Catania. They held a 5K over the weekend to combat funding and overcrowding issues.
