Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The City of Las Vegas is hoping to bring neighbors closer together with some help from technology.

Las Vegas has officially joined the Nextdoor social network.

The site is divided by neighborhoods and aims to improve communication between residents. They can share information such as public safety issues, community events, local services and even lost pets.

More than 110 neighborhoods, representing 60 percent of the City of Las Vegas, are on the site.

"29 percent of Americans can't name a single neighbor and so we wanted a way to break the ice and start the conversation," said Sarah Leary, co-founder of Nextdoor.

The network is free to join. You just have to prove you live in your neighborhood and you can get access to that network.
