North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Friends and family held a fundraiser on Monday for the family of the North Las Vegas toddler who drowned in a backyard swimming pool.
20-month-old Robert Peterson died last Wednesday after he was pulled from a pool at a home near Elkhorn and Aliante Parkway.
Organizers said they've raised about $2,000 to help with funeral expenses, but an additional $1,000 is still needed.
Monday's event was held at Discovery Park, where friends and family sold lemonade, cookies and other baked goods.
Robert's aunt, Angela Ruiz, spoke with Action News and described the type of boy Robert was, "Just strong personality. Big boy. Full of life. Very spoiled. Daddy's boy all the way. We just want everyone to know that he's our little angel now and he always will be."
"I spoke to the father briefly about a week ago and he expressed that his feelings were so tender that he's not really able to come out much," added neighbor Sandra Serralde. "I think anybody that ever been [around] a pool with a child always has that fear [of what happened]."
If you missed Monday's event, but would still like to donate, head to any Wells Fargo bank and mention the "Robert L. Peterson Funeral Fund."
