A Florida man who was taking care of his father has been arrested after the elderly parent died.
William Currier, 46, has been charged with causing his father’s death after William Currier Sr., 70, was found at the Boynton Beach, Fla., home the men shared emaciated and covered with bed sores, feces and urine. The elder Currier, who was 5’8”, weighed just 81 pounds at the time of his death, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office.
Investigators say the man died of starvation. His son was charged with first degree murder and aggravated abuse of an elderly person.
“The son told told deputies that his father was stubborn and did not want him to hire help because he was afraid that they would steal from him, reports WPTV. “The father also did not want to go into a nursing home.”
Currier told deputies that, "I did the best that I could do and I did not do a good job, I admit it,” WPTV reports.
Deputies say that there was food in the home, which the son said that he bought for his father.
