Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Veteran Affairs offices in Nevada will now have to deal with less staff while it tries to reduce the backlog of disability claims.
Nationwide, nearly 60-percent of claims are more than 125 days old.
The VA said 32 employees were furloughed on Tuesday because of the government shutdown.
The regional office at the Las Vegas Medical Center is also closed to the public.
The Reno office hasn't said exactly how it will impact the backlog.
Action News has heard from a number of frustrated vets, waiting for their claims to be processed.
The VA previously said it could continue processing claims through the end of the month.
